Let's Get Lit!

Literacy is the key to the liberation of all people: or at least that's what my favorite teachers have shared with me. Reading & writing information for ourselves versus accepting someone else's interpretation, is crucial to self-empowerment.

Being mindful about informational/media literacy, emotional literacy, and energy literacy are at the heart of growing on the way. What other languages & literacies are you fluent in?

Be it in the "study the story" (tiny talk) or any other LIT conversation around any media, these questions put the power in the hands of the viewer to understand the biases of any storyteller: be it your favorite filmmaker, another family member, or your local influencer.

when I share a critical reflection/analysis of a piece of media, some homies assume that I'm hating, and my bias (for or against) is showing. In reality, this is how I show love. I get lit(erate) to talk with the text; to show my respect to the storytellers and to myself BECAUSE if a part of the story isn't ringing true, I will learn to understand why.
