Maravilla Guiles

I am deeply rooted in my community and believe that cultural storytelling is a powerful force that puts the key to our regional narrative back in our own hands. With a strong foundation in restorative justice facilitation, the method by which we share our stories is deeply important to me; storytelling is a place we begin to heal our communal harm and merge perspectives to refocus on growth. I personally love doing this through puppets, music, & poetry, but my favorite thing to midwife the story is: passing the mic! Through my partnerships with local media outlets (including Television Stations, Radio, and print publications), I uplift the voice of community members and don't feel as though professional experience prevents someone from being an expert for their community. For me, storytelling, whether visual or written, is the first place we can begin to imagine ourselves and the world we want to build out of what we are given.
